Many original annual festivals are held in Armenia. Some of them are devoted to the gastronomic topic – favorite fruits, dishes of Armenian cuisine and local drinks. There are also festivals dedicated to the rich cultural heritage of the Armenian people, national costumes, historical crafts and folk art. Wine Days In Yerevan
The festival is held in early May on Saryan Street, in the center of Yerevan. Visitors will find delicious Armenian dishes, pleasant music, a special atmosphere, and of course, many types of local wine. To participate in wine tasting, which is valid for all days of the festival, a ticket is purchased right on the spot.
Dolma Festival
The village Khnaberd of Ararat province is the place, where the festival is held. Dolma is a traditional dish of Armenian cuisine. Participants of the festival will be able to taste dolma prepared according to recipes collected from various parts of Armenia. There are ancient ways of cooking this dish, several of which are hundred years old! During the festival, you can watch various competitions, for example – preparing largest or longest tolma.
“Tasty Yerevan” festival
The festival is held in June in Tumo Park, in Yerevan. “Tasty Yerevan” is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the richness and variety of Armenian cuisine, to try many delicious and interesting dishes, as well as to learn their history and recipes. The festival presents traditional dishes of meat, fish and vegetables, national pastries and sweets, as well as an assortment of bread and drinks. Participation is free.
Watermelon festival
One of the most favorite festivals of Yerevan residents and guests of the capital. The festival takes place on Swan Lake, in a park in the center of Yerevan. Here you can have a great time, listen to pleasant music and admire the original works with carvings on the watermelon rind. Moreover, you can treat yourself to a slice of juicy and refreshing watermelon, because there is nothing more pleasant in the summer heat! Participation in the festival is free of charge.
Taraz Festival (Armenian National Costumes)
Taraz festival (national costume) is held in August, on Northern Avenue, in the very center of the capital of Armenia. Here you can see costumes from different regions of the country, as well as interesting types of decoration and hand embroidery. Those who wish also have an opportunity to try on costumes and participate in photo shoots with authentic decorations.
Beer Festival
Venue – Swan Lake, Yerevan. The festival takes place in August. Armenia has its own beer production traditions, which many modern manufacturers carefully preserve. You can try various varieties of local refreshing drink at the beer festival, as well as a wide variety of beer snacks – from sausages, nuts and salted delicacies to tasty Sevan crayfish.
Barbecue Festival
Barbecue is perhaps a favorite dish, and a family feast will be incomplete without it. You can taste more than 40 types of this amazing dish, prepared according to various original recipes at the barbecue festival. Participants of the festival can be both experienced and novice cooks presenting their own versions of cooking. The festival is held in Akhtala village, Lori province.
