History Museum of Armenia was established by the law adopted by the Parliament of the First Republic of Armenia as an Ethnographic-Anthropological Museum-Library. The initiators were Prime Minister Alexander Khatisyan, Minister of Education and Culture Nikol Aghbalyan, representative of Georgia David Zavriev, senior supervisor of Caucasus Ethnographic Museum Smbat Ter-Avetisyan.
The museum holds a collection of about 400,000 items in the following sections: archeology (35% of the main collection), ethnography (8%), numismatics (45%), and documentation (12%).
The History Museum of Armenia takes the guests to the ancient times. 2000-year-old coins, decorations, carpets, and household items of ancient Armenians - all this and much more is exhibited in the museum and provide an opportunity to form an objective view of Armenian history and culture.
