ONE WAY TOUR continues to present to new and exciting tours.
This time our destinations are the mysterious MATOSAVANK and JUKHTAK monasteries.
– First stop – Djuhtak monastery. The name has a national origin. The complex includes two churches – St. Mary and St. Gregory the Illuminator, from which the name “Jukht” comes, which means “Couple”. Names St. Petros and Gisheravank (literally the monastery of night) are also mentioned. The medieval cemetery with unique gravestones is located on the territory of two churches.
– We will continue our tour to Matosavank monastery. The monastery is located in the forests of Dilijan, on the right bank of the Bldan River. You will see incomparable khachkars and inscriptions on the walls of the building. A rising cross-shaped monument – 2.5 m long and 2.2 wide – is attached to the north wall of the church. The inscription on the monument confirms that the monastery was built in 1251.
