The 122-year-old house of the great Armenian businessman and philanthropist Mikael Aramyants from Tbilissi (Georgia), which is the pride of Akhtala, is now available for tourist visits. Built in the Swiss style, this magnificent castle says a lot about the activities of the Armenian noble families in the late 19th century. It used to be not only a rest house for the Aramyants, but also a gathering place for the Armenian intelligentsia. The destination of our tour is this very structure.
Before getting here we will have a walk to Kobayr Monastery. Built in the 12th century, the monastery complex is especially impressive with its magnificent frescoes. During the tour we will visit Akhtala. A monastery where the elements of Armenian, Georgian and Byzantine architecture were harmoniously intertwined.
P.S. The price does not include the entrance fee to Aramyants Castle – 1000 AMD (for foreigners – 1500 AMD).
