Great Hermitage of Tatev or Tatevi Mets Anapat is a medieval Armenian monastery complex on the bank of the Vorotan River in Syunik Province. It is one of the most valuable medieval complexes. The founder of this architectural complex was Catholicos of All Armenians Hakob Joughayetsi. There is a spring and now semi-ruined buildings to the East of the church, refectory is on the south side, residential cells – in the western and northern parts. There is another group of rooms in the yard with an L-shaped general plan. The adjacent part had a military significance during the liberation struggle organized by David Beck in the 18th century.
The well-established transport infrastructure of Armenia allows to get to Tatev Anapat Monastery by a private car or with the help of various travel companies which offer regular excursions and tours to different sights of the country. Due to the geographical location of Tatev Anapat Monastery the trip will not seem long.

Great Hermitage of Tatev (Tatevi Mets Anapat) was a major educational, religious and cultural center. According to Arakel Davrijetsi, about 700 monks served here.
