The Church of the Holy Virgin is located in the very center of the Armenian village Bjni. The church was built in 1031. The church functions to this day, although almost 10 centuries have passed since its foundation. You can see here specific stone “shelves” located at a height of about five meters along the inside walls, which are not typical for such buildings. It is supposed, that various medieval manuscripts and writings created in Bjni could be kept here.
The well-established transport infrastructure of Armenia allows to get to Holy Mother of God Church by a private car or with the help of various travel companies which offer regular excursions and tours to different sights of the country. Due to the geographical location of Holy Mother of God Church the trip will not seem long.

The famous French medieval traveler Chardin visited Bjni in 1637. He even spent a night in the building of the church of the Holy Virgin, and then described this holy place in his notes. The famous French botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort visited this ancient holy cradle during his trip to Armenia in 1700. He also described details of the trip in his diaries.
