About this place
The house-museum of Gevorg Chaush, a figure of the Armenian national liberation movement and a fedayi (freedom fighter), is located in the village of Ashnak, Aragatsotn Province. The museum was built in the 1980s at the initiative of Chaush’s cousin, Gevorg Melkonyan.
The museum presents the life and activities of Gevorg Chaush. On display are the famed military leader’s personal belongings and exhibits describing the historical events of early 20th-century Armenia.
The museum was designed by architect Rafael Israelyan. In 2014, a sculpture of the Eagle of Armenia was installed on the tower of the “Fedayi House” of the Gevorg Chaush Museum. The sculpture was created by architect Levon Mkrtchyan and sculptor Gevorg Gevorgyan.
