Renowned scientists A.K. Maghakyan, A.A. Hakhverdyan, and N.V. Mirzoyeva founded the Yerevan Botanical Garden in 1935 on an 80-hectare area. The garden contains up to 1,100 plant species. Within its territory is the Paleobotanical Museum. The primary goal of the Yerevan Botanical Garden is to introduce unique and valuable plant species from different regions of the planet, create scientific and exhibition collections, study their adaptation to new ecological conditions, and utilize the most adaptable species for greening cities and settlements.
