There was also another bridge called the “Red Bridge” before the construction of the Victory Bridge near the Yerevan Wine factory on the banks of the Hrazdan River. That was a medieval bridge built of red stone. The bridge was the only one that connected Yerevan with the Ararat valley and Sardarapat. However, during the times of the Soviet government, the city grew, and the problem of building a new bridge arose.
