Samson Monastery is located near the Samson River and is surrounded by a forest. It is hidden in the forest and is far from the residental areas. The complex consists of two churches, a ruined chapel, residential and auxiliary buildings. The only entry is from the western side. The octagonal drum, which is round from the inside, is very remarkable and is decorated with pillars. The walls of the church were covered with frescoes, from which separate pieces are preserved.
The well-established transport infrastructure of Armenia allows to get to Samson Monastery by a private car or with the help of various travel companies which offer regular excursions and tours to different sights of the country. Due to the geographical location of Samson Monastery the trip will not seem long.
The high season in Armenia lasts for a long time due to the pleasant climate conditions. Warm days in Armenia start in March and last until late autumn; winter is usually snowless and not long. The chapel was built on the northern side of the monastery. Once it had a ceiling decorated with frescos. There is a number of undated inscriptions on the western wall.
