Mother Armenia monument is located in Yerevan, symbolises the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War. The pedestal of the monument (1950, architect Rafael Israelyan) was built from granite by the composition of the Armenian trianglical church. The statue of Josef Stalin (sculptor, Sergei Merkurov) was replaced by “Mother Armenia” monument (Kombas Copper, sculptor, Ara Haroutyunyan) in 1967. The sculpture represents the collective image of the Armenian mother with a sword in her hand and symbolizes the glory and the power of the free homeland. 22 meters high monument (pedestal, 52 meters) is visible from different parts of the city.
