Mother Armenia monument is located in Yerevan, symbolises the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War. The pedestal of the monument (1950, architect Rafael Israelyan) was built from granite by the composition of the Armenian trianglical church. The statue of Josef Stalin (sculptor, Sergei Merkurov) was replaced by “Mother Armenia” monument (Kombas Copper, sculptor, Ara Haroutyunyan) in 1967. The sculpture represents the collective image of the Armenian mother with a sword in her hand and symbolizes the glory and the power of the free homeland. 22 meters high monument (pedestal, 52 meters) is visible from different parts of the city.

The arches at the entrance, decorated with capitals, and a copper door are notable. The two-story museum named “Soviet Armenia in the Great Patriotic War” was opened in the complex in 1970. It was renamed to “Mother Armenia” military museum in 1995 and currently operates in the system of the RA Ministry of Defense.

Yevgenia Muradyan became the model of the statue "Mother of Armenia". The statue symbolizes the indomitable military spirit, the collective image of the guardian angel of the motherland. Yevgenia Muradyan tells how Ara Harutyunyan suggested her to become a model of the statue when she was 17 years old. The sculptor noticed her and said that the statue of Mother Armenia should replace the monument of Stalin.
