Monastery/Church

"Hermon Monastery was founded in 936 by Prince Smbat of Syunik and Bishop Hakob. In 1338, Tiratour Kiliketsi, a disciple of Esayi Nchetsi, settled here and established a new school, later known as the Hermon Monastery School. The current St. Gregory Church, built from finely hewn basalt, is a three-nave basilica with a single pair of columns, dating back to the 17th century. Part of its roof and southern wall have collapsed. Within the rectangular-walled complex, the remains of monastic structures can still be found. Today, the monastery is in ruins, yet it remains an important historical and cultural site, reflecting the spiritual and intellectual life of medieval Armenia."
