This monastic complex, dedicated to the Armenian Catholicos St. Grigor, dates back to 10-13 centuries. The monastery has two churches, a bell-tower, chapel and Mamikonyan’s family cemetery. Due to the white tint of the stone, the monastery was also called White. Bardzrakash Monastery was one of the spiritual and educational centers of Armenia in the Middle Ages. Representatives of the Mamikonian dynasty studied here, and clergymen were engaged in scientific work. Around the monastery there is a spring, cross-stones magnificent ornaments, sculptures and medieval inscriptions.
