We are going to discover one of the cozy corners of Tavush region, the unique Girl Fortress. The fortress is located southwest of the city of Ijevan, on top of a forested mountain, which is surrounded on all sides by high cliffs. In addition to the ruined apartments inside the fortress, there are two churches with a “reservoir” plan. It has great historical and archeological value. It is one of the few castles that has been well preserved in its entirety. It was one of the famous fortresses of Armenia and had a significant strategic significance. We will start our hike from Hovk village. The path along the beautiful forest landscapes stretches to the top of the mountain, from where there is a wonderful view of the whole valley.
P.S The total length of the walk of medium difficulty is about 7 km. Participants are advised to wear sneakers, comfortable shoes, warm clothes, wear a protective cap, and have the necessary food and water for the day.
