The Ijevan Historical and Geographical Museum, founded in 1955, has been open to visitors since 1997. The museum consists of four sections and five exhibition halls and is considered one of the richest heritage museums. The sections include: Information, Nature, Archaeology, Ethnography, Our Heroes. The museum houses artifacts dating back to the 3rd–2nd millennium BC, as well as items from the Urartian period. In 1992, around 1,600 exhibits from the Ijevan Historical and Geographical Museum were transferred to the Sardarapat Battle Museum and the Yerevan Revolution Museum.

Visitors to the Historical and Geographical Museum can find several work-related items belonging to Sargis Kasyan, including a Morse code telegraph.

Among the cannons located in the museum’s yard, one was manufactured in 1906 in St. Petersburg, participated in World War I and revolutionary battles, while the second, made in 1927 in Yekaterinburg, was used during World War II.

The museum also features a 1918 machine gun used by the Karvansara and Shamshadin partisans, as well as a radio receiver that Joseph Stalin gifted to the first tank soldier who entered Berlin."
