Shatin village lies at the foot of the Vardenis Range, at the junction of the Yeghegis and Selim rivers. Nearly 4 km east of Shatin, on the slopes of the left bank of the Yeghegis River, is located a complex of Shatin monastery (Shatin desert). Shatinvank monastery was founded in 929, the main church – in 1655. Many cross-stones and fragments of the inscriptions have been preserved here. The monastery was one of the major religious and cultural centers of Syunik in late medieval times, where numerous manuscripts had been copied.
The well-established transport infrastructure of Armenia allows to get to Shatinvank Мonastery by a private car or with the help of various travel companies which offer regular excursions and tours to different sights of the country. Due to the geographical location of Shatinvank Мonastery the trip will not seem long.

The monastery complex included a mill, a canal and a bridge.The bridge was built in 1666 on the Yeghegis River.
The walls of the main altar of the church are decorated with thematic biblical frescoes.
