Hunot Canyon is a beautiful natural corner located in the territory of Artsakh. The beauty of the local landscape is difficult to describe in words. You can admire the beautiful waterfalls, explore the mysterious caves and the ruins of the once prosperous settlement of Hunot. The former well-being of these places is evidenced by the remains of numerous buildings: bridges, mills, residential buildings. One of the iconic sights is the cave “Avana Karan”. There is also an amazing and picturesque cave with a spring here.

Hunot Canyon, the State Natural-Historical Reserve, is one of the most scenic locations of Artsakh with notable natural and historical landmarks. There are ruins of over a dozen mills, indicating that there used to be wealthy settlements on the land of the canyon.

Hunot village was established in the 18th century. There were 130 villagers by the end of the 19th century. Due to the political situation, this territory was gradually abandoned in the Soviet years.

"Zontikner" (literally translated from Russian as "Umbrellas") is a unique complex of caves and waterfalls. Where does this name come from? Simply, the rocks overgrown with moss really have the shape of umbrellas from which rain streams flow. "Umbrellas" is considered to be one of the main natural attractions of Artsakh. This location can only be reached on foot. People joke that if you have missed "Umbrellas" during your visit to Artsakh, you have no right to say you have seen the nature of Artsakh.
