About this tour
Discover Byurakan and the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of Aragatsotn during one fascinating journey.
The tour starts from Amberd, then continues to the Surb Hovhannes Church of Byurakan and the Viktor Hambardzumyan Observatory, where we will learn about the history of Armenian astronomy and also visit the scientist’s house-museum.
During the trip, we will also explore the caves of Byurakan, see Zizi Stone, and with a short hike reach the leaning Artavazik Church.
The tour combines history, science, nature, and a small hiking adventure, offering an opportunity to discover Byurakan from different perspectives.
❗A hike of about 3 km is planned, so participants are advised to bring comfortable shoes, water, and food.

What will we see on this tour?
The tour explores Byurakan and the historical, cultural and natural heritage of Aragatsotn. It starts at Amberd Fortress and continues to the Surb Hovhannes Church of Byurakan and the Viktor Hambardzumyan Observatory, where you learn about the history of Armenian astronomy and visit the scientist's house-museum. Is there a hike, and what should I bring?
Yes, a hike of about 3 km is planned, so bring comfortable shoes, water and food.
How much is this tour for one adult?
The price for one adult is 6,000 AMD, whatever the language of the guide.
When and where does the tour start?
The tour starts at 08:00 at 1a Sayat-Nova Ave in Yerevan and ends at the same place at 19:00.
What does the price include?
The price includes guide service and transport. Meals are not included.
Which entrance fees are paid separately?
The Amberd castle entrance fee of 1500 AMD and admission to the Victor Hambardzumyan House-Museum of 1000 AMD are not included. Entrance fees are usually paid in cash on site, and you may skip a paid entrance and wait for the group outside.
In which language is the tour guided?
The tour is guided in Armenian; if there are foreign participants, it may be conducted in two languages. Our guides are local experts familiar with the history, culture and the sites visited.
Can children join the tour?
Yes, there are no age restrictions. Children aged 0-3 travel free, children aged 3-6 get a 50% discount, and from age 7 the full price applies.
Is there a discount for groups?
Yes, groups of 5 or more people get 500 AMD off per person.
When should I arrive, and what if I am late?
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time; seats are not pre-assigned. If you are late, the group does not wait, but you may catch up with the tour by your own means if possible.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation no later than 24 hours before departure. If you cancel later, the money is not refunded. In case of severe weather, the tour may be postponed or refunded.
How can I pay for the tour?
You can pay by card or in cash at our office, or by bank transfer. Payment is made in advance to confirm the booking.
