A three-day journey to Syunik, one of Armenia’s most impressive regions.
The tour combines ancient history, mountain landscapes, medieval monasteries, and the unique atmosphere of Goris. Along the way, you will explore the Birds’ Cave, Old and New Goris, Tatev Monastery, Vahanavank, the Svarants viewpoint, Karahunj, and Shaki Waterfall, as well as visit the Axel Bakunts House-Museum and the Garegin Nzhdeh Memorial Complex.
Two overnight stays in Goris allow you to enjoy the journey at a relaxed pace, while the trip concludes with a visit to a winery in Areni.
Itinerary
Day 1
1 Stop 1 Birds’ Cave
Explore one of Armenia’s most important archaeological sites, where evidence of ancient winemaking and remarkably well-preserved artifacts has been discovered.
2 Stop 2 Goris Viewpoint
Admire a panoramic view of Goris, surrounded by mountains, distinctive rock formations, and traditional houses with red rooftops.
3 Stop 3 Axel Bakunts House-Museum
Visit the former home of prominent Armenian writer Axel Bakunts and learn about his life, literary heritage, and connection with Goris.
4 Stop 4 Old and New Goris Walking Tour
Discover the contrasting character of Goris, from the historic cave dwellings and rock formations of Old Goris to the stone architecture and peaceful streets of the modern town.
Day 2
5 Stop 1 Tatev Monastery
Explore one of Armenia’s most celebrated medieval monasteries, dramatically positioned above the Vorotan Gorge. Learn about its history as an important religious, cultural, and educational center.
6 Stop 2 Svarants Viewpoint
Stop at a scenic viewpoint near Svarants and admire the rugged mountains and expansive landscapes of southern Armenia.
7 Stop 3 Vahanavank Monastery

Day 3
