New Year’s Eve is one of Georgia’s favourite holidays. Many events take place in almost every city in the country, but Tbilisi is certainly the epicentre of the festivities. In fact, the special atmosphere begins to be felt as early as mid-December. Georgian people call this period “the season of Satsivi”, after the popular Georgian dish which is served on every New Year’s Eve table. The Georgian capital transforms around the holiday season, lit up in bright lights. You can find originally decorated “Instagram spots” for spectacular photo shoots everywhere. There’s also a marketplace and marketplace, with music concerts, food and gifts. On New Year’s Eve a big gala concert takes place on the Republic Square, and it culminates in a colourful firework display. Various festivities continue until the old New Year’s Eve, on 14 January.

Gyumri is Armenia’s second-largest city and “cultural capital”. As a modern city, Gyumri continues to hold on to its traditions, offering both ordinary buildings and beautiful old houses and streets that capture the atmosphere and flavour of the turn of the last century. Dilijan, northeast of Yerevan, is a famous climate resort. Dilijan is surrounded on almost all sides by the dense forests of the local nature reserve. This area is famous for its delicious spring water and healing crystal clear mountain air. Dilijan is very beautiful in any season of the year. By choosing this destination, one can combine New Year holidays with a full-fledged vacation in nature.

The Tsakhkadzor ski resort is very popular from late autumn to mid-March. Many people choose Tsakhkadzor for their holiday tour, as it is a great opportunity to combine “pleasure with profit”. Here you can celebrate New Year and spend time with your family and friends at various winter activities. The resort offers world-class downhill runs of varying difficulty levels, as well as snowboarding and freeride tracks. You can also go snowmobiling, and kids will love the fun on the snowcats in the kids zone.
