ARENI WINERY

The Areni Winery was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the Simonyan family. The founders of the production have a destination to preserve and continue the ancient wine-making traditions of this region. The family factory has grown into a large-scale production in a short time, offering a wide selection of quality wines.

The old village is considered to be the “cradle” of Armenian winemaking. It is here that one of the oldest grape varieties is grown, used in the production of wines and bears the same name - "Areni". Legends about this place were also confirmed by archaeological finds: in one of the caves of Areni ("Birds' cave") an ancient wine press was discovered, the age of which was estimated at about 6000 years. Numerous jugs, dishes and utensils, used in ancient times for winemaking, were found here.

The production of quality wine begins long before grape appear in the winery. Everything begins at the grape growing stage. Vineyard care has its own characteristics and is carried out stage by stage depending on the time of year. Harvesting in Areni begins around mid-September and lasts almost until mid-November.
