What a departure looks like

Group tours leave Yerevan in the morning from a shared meeting point on Sayat-Nova Avenue, by the Komitas Conservatory. Come about fifteen minutes early: seats are not assigned in advance, and a group that is ready leaves on time. A few routes collect guests from their hotel instead, and where that applies it is written on the tour page. Transport is a minivan or a coach depending on how many people have booked, and guides work in Armenian, Russian and English — when the group is mixed, the commentary is given in two of them.

Choosing by length

Half-day trips are back in the city by the afternoon and suit a first day in the country: Garni, Geghard and the Symphony of Stones are all within an hour of Yerevan. Full-day tours run from early morning to late evening and reach further — Tatev and Khndzoresk in the south, Sevan and Dilijan in the north, Khor Virap and Noravank towards Ararat. Departures of two to five days cover Syunik, Gyumri and the Georgian routes to Tbilisi, with the overnight stays arranged as part of the tour.

When to travel

Departures run all year, and each card shows the next date the tour actually goes. Winter changes the mountains rather than closing them: if snow or a closed pass makes a stop unsafe, the route is adjusted or the departure is moved, and a tour we cancel is refunded in full. Summer routes to Sevan and Dilijan fill the calendar most densely, which is the practical reason to book a specific date rather than a specific week.

Group or private

A group tour is the cheaper way to see the same places: you pay for a seat, share the vehicle and keep the published timetable. A private tour is the same road with the car, the guide and the hours to yourselves — it leaves on the day you choose, waits where you want to stay longer, and is priced per car rather than per person, which starts to make sense from about four travellers.

What the price covers

The price covers the transport and the guide for the published route. Entrance tickets and meals are not included: entrances are usually paid in cash at each site, and you may skip one and wait outside for the group. Prices are shown per adult; child discounts differ between tours and are listed on the tour page, together with the minimum number of participants the departure needs.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. Payment confirms the seat, and every departure needs a minimum number of participants, so a tour is confirmed at least a day before it leaves. Bookings are accepted until the day before, and busy dates close earlier than that.

Is hotel pickup included?

What language is the tour in?

Armenian, Russian and English. Each tour lists the languages its guide works in, and when the group is mixed the commentary is given in two of them.

No. The price covers the transport and the guide. Entrance tickets are usually paid in cash on site, and you can skip a paid site and wait outside if you prefer.

What is the cancellation policy?

What happens if the weather turns?

For safety we may change, shorten or move a departure — a closed mountain pass in winter is the usual reason. If we cancel the tour, the full amount is refunded.
