For this special tour, we offer you to explore the magnificent tourist sites of Ararat region. Our first stop will be at St. Karapet monastery. According to the monastery’s inscriptions, it was founded by the Orbelians at the beginning of the 14th century, and it served as their family cemetery. Then, we will visit Tapi fortress that is also known as “The fortress of Grigor Marzpetuni”. Tapi fortress, built in the 10th century, is located 6km north-west from the village of Urtsadzor, on the picturesque slope of Kotuts Mountain. The fortress is surrounded by a rectangular planned wall, inside of which a vaulted church, built in the 13th century is located. Continuing the trip, we will reach to the Angels’ gorge, which completely differs from other gorges with its colors, appearance and uniqueness. Also, one can find here a source of mineral water, which according to the locals has a healing feature/effect. At the end of the tour we will also visit the church of St. Astvatsatsin in Areni.
P.S. The total length of the hike is approximately 4 km. Participants are recommended to wear sneakers, comfortable clothing, have a protective cap, and the necessary food and water for the day.
