Makravank is an Armenian church-complex located in Hrazdan, Kotayk Province. The monastic complex includes a half-ruined 11th-century chapel, the walls of the narthex and the medieval cemetery. According to the legend, one of the invaders decided to destroy the monastery and build a bridge using the stones of the church. The people of the village were against that horrible idea and managed to make the invader to change his mind. And due to this the monastery survived.
The well-established transport infrastructure of Armenia allows to get to Makravank Monastery by a private car or with the help of various travel companies which offer regular excursions and tours to different sights of the country. Due to the geographical location of Makravank Monastery the trip will not seem long.
The high season in Armenia lasts for a long time due to the pleasant climate conditions. Warm days in Armenia start in March and last until late autumn; winter is usually snowless and not long. The high precipitation season is variable. The tourist season for Makravank Monastery depends on the weather conditions.
One of the khachkars of the monastery traveled to France within the program “Armenia, my friend”, which started in the end of September 2006. Khachkar was represented at the exhibition entitled "Holy Armenia" in the Louvre.
