Join us in celebrating the most anticipated holiday of the summer!
Vardavar is one of the most beloved among traditional Armenian holidays. The holiday was dedicated to water, love, fertility and
beauty the goddess Star, whose symbol was the rose. After the adoption of Christianity, the holiday symbolized Christ
Transfiguration and pouring water on each other symbolized cleansing from sins.
Our first stop will be in the village of Berdkunk, where we will see a defensive site preserved from the ancient period
Berdkunk Castle, then we will visit Hayravank, which is considered one of the unique examples of Armenian architecture.
We will conclude the day in Norashen reserve, where we will celebrate Vardavar. The reserve is also known as “Island of Crows”.
The total length of the hike is about 4 km. Participants are advised to wear walking shoes, to be
in suitable clothing, wear a protective hat, have a day’s worth of food and water.
P.S. The price does not include the entrance fee to the Norashen reserve – 1,500 AMD and for foreigners – 3,000 AMD.
