As part of the route, we will have the opportunity to see Matosavank, located on a forested plateau, which was built in 1205 with semi-finished large stones. Sculptured khachkars are stacked on both sides of the entrance. With the majestic beauty of Matosavank.
Our next destination will be the half-ruined Armenian monastic complex of the 11th-12th centuries, Aghavnavank, located in Aghavnavan village. The monastery complex, in addition to its architectural features, is known for a popular legend related to it, according to which one of the Armenian princes, who was hopelessly in love with a beautiful woman named Nabat, built the church in memory of his love, committed suicide and at the last moment called “Ah Nabat”.
As part of the tour, we will also visit Goshavank. After receiving historical information about Goshavank and visiting lake Gosh, we will reach Gosh Lake by jeep. The lake got its name from the Armenian writer and public figure Mkhitar Gosh. It is located in the very heart of Dilijan Reserve.
P.S. The total length of the walk of medium difficulty is about 6 km. Participants are advised to wear sports shoes, suitable clothing, wear a protective hat, and have enough food and water for one day.
